HISTORY MAKER: Stott becomes first Women’s player to reach 100 games for the Club

Inspiring Melbourne City Captain, Rebekah Stott, has cemented her place in Club history, becoming the first Women’s player to reach 100 appearances for City.

Stott’s milestone came in City’s emphatic 4-0 win over Kaya FC-Iloilo in the team’s final Group Stage fixture of the AFC Women’s Champions League, marking a memorable chapter in her illustrious career.

It was a day to remember for the skipper who celebrated her milestone with three points, a clean sheet and her name on the scoresheet. It took just seven minutes for Stott to find the back of the net, firing the ball into the top corner following Rhianna Pollicina’s corner.

A true legend of the Club, Stott has amassed an extraordinary list of achievements across her journey.

The central defender is a four-time Champion, three-time Premier and has been a key figure in two history-making invincible seasons.

Not only has she shown class and leadership on the field, but also off it. In 2022, she was awarded the PFA’s Community Medal for her role in supporting cancer patients following her own diagnosis, raising over $39,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Speaking on her achievement, Stott reflected on her milestone and the Group Stage: “I love being a part of this Club, it’s been eight years now so I’m super stoked to get to my 100th game for City. I just love this team so much, it’s a great group of girls.

“There’s a lot to build on. Yes, we’re happy with the three wins and two clean sheets, but I think there’s still a lot to work on.

“We scored three goals from set pieces today so we’d like to get some more goals from open play, so we need to work on our style of play and how we can hurt teams.”
