Melbourne City Football Club, in partnership with Federation University Australia, is pleased to announce the launch of the Melbourne City Institute of Sport and Business (MCISB).

This innovative educational initiative combines Melbourne City FC’s elite sports environment with Federation University’s academic rigour, offering students a one-year Diploma of Business and Sports Management designed to kickstart careers in sport, business, and beyond.

The MCISB diploma, powered by Federation University, provides a holistic approach to education, combining foundational business studies with exclusive, hands-on experience at Melbourne City FC’s City Football Academy, ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields.

Students will have the opportunity to gain up to 100 hours of practical experience, shadowing and working alongside Melbourne City professionals across different departments, from sports management and marketing to event coordination and digital media.

In addition to the diploma qualification, graduates are awarded a full year of academic credit toward multiple articulation pathways, including Federation University’s Bachelor of Business degree, allowing them to continue seamlessly into their second year if they choose to pursue further study.

High-achieving graduates of MCISB will also be considered for two guaranteed entry-level roles within Melbourne City FC each year, creating direct pathways into the industry.

Brad Rowse, CEO of Melbourne City FC, expressed his enthusiasm for the new institute:

“The Melbourne City Institute of Sport and Business is a unique collaboration that reflects our vision for developing the next generation of sports and business leaders.

“With Federation University’s expertise in higher education and our world-class facilities, we’re giving students the tools, experience, and connections they need to build successful, impactful careers in the sports industry.

“At Melbourne City, we have a strong history of welcoming graduates from our student programs into full-time roles, and we look forward to continuing that success with MCISB.”

Vice-Chancellor of Federation University, Professor Duncan Bentley, emphasized the program’s career-oriented approach:
