As we near the end of 2024, we look back at another incredible year for City in the Community, where football has been used to build, grow and connect with schools and community groups across Victoria.
There have been many highlights throughout the year – check out some of our favourites below.
CITY FUTURES
One of the most exciting milestones this year was the expansion of our City Futures program, which will see us partner with Gleneagles Secondary College.
This program continues to provide students with invaluable life skills through football, helping them build confidence, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
Narre Warren South P-12 College became the first school in Victoria to incorporate the City Futures program in early 2024 with the program continuing to make a difference at the school.
MAKING AN IMPACT
We’re incredible proud to have launched four new Twinning Programs, where we’ve seen a transformative impact across three different correctional facilities.
The Twinning Program aims to support both men and women in the justice system, using the power of footballer to foster rehabilitations, encourage personal development, and create positive pathways.
RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS
2024 marked the third year of our Respectful Relationships program, which was capped off with a comprehensive Evaluation Report from La Trobe University. This program has, and will continue to, empower young people to build respectful, healthy relationships and continue to make a difference in their communities.
SUPPORTING OUR POWERCHAIR TEAM
We supported our Melbourne City Powerchair team as they represented the club at the National Championships. Together, we also celebrated International Day of People with a Disability at the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields.
We will continue to work closely with our team and raise awareness, foster understanding and acceptance, and celebrate the contributions and achievements of people with disabilities.
MEMORABLE EVENTS
City in the Community hosted a number of memorable events throughout the year, bringing our community closer together.
We supported Barton Primary School and Casey Fields Primary School with new equipment and goals as part of the global Healthy Goals initiative.
From our Politicians Match and a Blue Ribbon Cup to a Refugee Week tournament and two incredible Young Leader Days, City in the Community created opportunities for connection, understanding, and celebration.
It’s been a year full of growth, impact and connection as we look to make a real difference in people’s lives, both on and off the pitch. On behalf of the team, we would like to thank our participants for a memorable year and with them a happy and safe holiday period.
