2025 is here and you don’t have to wait long for City football!
After taking home a point from Gosford, Aurelio Vidmar’s men are set to return to AAMI Park for their first match of the New Year on Friday evening against Wellington.
Later in the weekend, our City Women will face Sydney FC away on Sunday.
In what is shaping up to be the most tightly packed period of the season, the Men’s team will have just three days between matches, while Michael Matricciani’s squad has a slightly longer five-day break to prepare for their clash.
Both extended squads have now been confirmed, with mixed news on the injury front.
Yonatan Cohen has been ruled out after suffering a knee injury in the first half of Tuesday’s draw. A further update will be provided in the next 24 hours once scans have revealed the extent of the injury.
In better news, Andreas Kuen has been included in the squad after missing the midweek match due to a minor foot injury.
He’s joined in the extended squad by Arion Sulemani and Emin Durakovic.
Casting an eye forward to Sunday’s Women’s clash, Tyla-Jay Vlajnic is set to return after missing the New Year’s Eve fixture with a minor hamstring injury, while Emilia Murray has also been added to the extended squad.
