Melbourne City is set to host a Saturday night blockbuster as Michael Matricciani’s side take on Brisbane Roar in a top-of-the-table clash at AAMI Park.
With only one point separating the two sides on the Ninja A-League ladder, we’re set for an enthralling encounter between two of the league’s strongest sides.
Here are the key points ahead of the six-point clash.
TOP OF THE TABLE CLASH
It’s first vs. second as City hosts the in-form Brisbane Roar for the first time this season.
City sits atop the league table with six wins, four draws, and zero losses for a total of 22 points, while Brisbane follows closely behind with seven wins, zero draws, and three losses, for a total of 21 points after 10 games.
It’ll be a clash between the league’s two strongest attacks as City prepare for perhaps their toughest challenge yet. There’s still a long way to go in the season, but this is set to be a beauty that you don’t want to miss.
FIRST TIME UP
Saturday night’s clash will be the first time that the two sides go head-to-head in the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season.
City, the league’s only unbeaten team, will face off against Brisbane, who boasts the competition’s most lethal attack, having scored 30 goals in 10 games.
After back-to-back draws, City will be eager to return to winning ways and get back to their lethal ways in attack. While the team’s defence will need to be at their best to nullify the threats the Roar possess.
BACK AT AAMI PARK
City fans will be treated to 180 minutes of City football as we return to AAMI Park for a huge doubleheader against Brisbane Roar in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions.
For our City Women, Saturday’s match will be the team’s fourth game of the season at the venue. Matricciani’s side has won all three previous matches at AAMI Park, netting an impressive nine goals in the process.
It’s been just under a month since the team last took to the pitch at the venue, and there’s no doubt they will be itching to get back out there and deliver a strong performance in front of the City faithful.
