Here are the major talking points ahead of Friday night football:

Keeping the Momentum Rolling

Aurelio Vidmar’s side has picked up seven points from their last three matches, including a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Wellington Phoenix last Friday.

Marco Tilio continued his impressive form, scoring for the second consecutive game with a well-taken finish.

In a move similar to his goal a week earlier, Andreas Kuen provided a pinpoint delivery into the box, with Max Caputo intelligently letting it run through to Tilio, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

With another quick turnaround coming on Wednesday night at home to Newcastle Jets, City will be eager to continue building momentum and extend our recent strong run of form.

Finals Race Heats Up

The A-League Men’s table remains incredibly tight, and a win on Friday could see City climb up to second place, further solidifying our position in the top six.

Every result is crucial at this stage of the season, and City will know the importance of three points at home.

Macarthur, on the other hand, will arrive desperate to turn their form around after going winless in their last four matches (1D, 3L) and slipping out of the finals positions.

The Bulls will be fighting to stay in the finals race, making Friday night’s contest an even bigger challenge.

City will also have added motivation after falling to Macarthur 1-0 earlier this season and will be determined to turn the tables in front of our home supporters.

Reinforcements Continue To Roll In

City could receive a welcome boost in midfield, with Steven Ugarkovic named in the extended squad and pushing for a return from injury.

Ugarkovic has missed the past two games with a hamstring complaint but is set to return, while Mathew Leckie could also find his way back into the XI after being used as an impact sub last weekend.

Yonatan Cohen has also been named in the extended squad and could feature for the first time in 2025 after going down with an MCL injury in our New Year’s Eve draw against the Mariners.

With plenty on the line and home support behind us, Vidmar’s men will be determined to secure all three points and continue their push up the table on Friday night.
