CALLED UP: Leah Davidson joins Matildas squad in Sydney

Melbourne City midfielder Leah Davidson has been called into the Matildas squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Korea Republic.

Davidson joins the squad as an injury replacement for Katrina Gorry and will link up with City teammate Holly McNamara in camp ahead of the first match this Friday night at Allianz Stadium.

The call-up is a testament to Davidson’s outstanding form this season, with the 22-year-old further cementing herself as one of the best midfielders in the Ninja A-League.

She has made 18 league appearances for City this campaign, starting in 16 of those matches and playing a crucial role in the team’s success.

This selection marks Davidson’s second camp with the senior national team after making her Matildas debut in December last year. She featured twice against Chinese Taipei and made an immediate impact, scoring in her first start for Australia.

Davidson’s inclusion adds further depth to the Matildas midfield as they prepare to take on Korea Republic in a two-match series.

The first clash will take place in Sydney this Friday, followed by another friendly in Newcastle next Monday.

City fans can tune in to support Davidson and McNamara, with both matches available live on Paramount+, and Friday’s fixture also available on free-to-air via Network 10 and 10play.
