Our City Women have learnt their opponents for the upcoming two-legged Ninja A-League Women’s Semi-Finals.
After a historic undefeated regular season campaign, Michael Matricciani’s squad secured direct qualification to the Semi-Finals and could sit back and watch as the Elimination Finals unfolded.
A 1-0 win to Adelaide United over Western United meant City was locked in to face the winner of the second Elimination Final between Central Coast Mariners and Canberra United.
However, inclement weather in Gosford saw that fixture postponed by 24 hours, delaying confirmation of our opponent until Monday night.
Despite Canberra taking an early lead, the Mariners fought back strongly, with a Jade Pennock double eventually sealing a 2-1 victory and setting up a blockbuster Semi-Final clash against City.
Attention now turns to the first leg of the Semi-Final, which will see City travel to Gosford this Saturday 3 May to face the Mariners.
Kick-off is set for 2:15pm and the match will be broadcast live and free on 10Bold and 10Play, as well as available on Paramount+.
After the conclusion of this weekend’s fixture, full details for the Second Leg – City’s home Semi-Final – will be confirmed. Ticketing information will then follow shortly after.
It’s been a record-breaking season for City, but the focus is now firmly on the Finals as we look to book a place in a home Grand Final at AAMI Park.
