PFA PLAYER OF THE MONTH: McNamara takes out April award

Melbourne City star Holly McNamara has capped off another standout month by being named the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) Player of the Month for April.

Voted on by players across the Ninja A-League, the award recognises outstanding individual performances, and McNamara continued her brilliant run of form as City completed an Invincible regular season and lifted the Premiers Plate.

McNamara was instrumental in City’s 4-1 win over Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park to kick off the month, netting a first-half brace to set up an important three points at home.

She continued her scoring spree a week later in a 5-1 away win over Perth Glory, adding yet another goal to her tally and officially claiming the Golden Boot with 15 goals for the season.

McNamara’s teammate Taylor Otto was also nominated for the award, having impressed with a brace of her own against Perth as well as two commanding performances in central defence.

McNamara, Otto and the entire City squad will be eager to continue their strong run of form as they kick-off their 2025 Final Series this Saturday against Central Coast Mariners in the Semi Finals.
