It’s been a busy week of national team announcements, with several Melbourne City players – including plenty of Academy products – named across a host of junior Australian squads.
From U16s through to the Olyroos, City continues to play a key role in the development of Australian football, with international opportunities providing valuable experience for the next generation.
Joeys: Hohhot Tournament 🇨🇳
Luke Becvinovski and Oliver O’Carroll have been named in the Joeys squad for the upcoming Hohhot U16 Tournament in China.

A dynamic attacker with a keen eye for goal, Becvinovski has been a standout performer in City’s VPL1 U23s, while O’Carroll’s technical quality and vision in midfield have made him a standout in City’s Academy system.

Both will benefit from testing themselves in a competitive international environment, as Australia prepares to take on quality opposition overseas.
U18s: UEFA Friendship Cup 🇨🇭

Three young A-League Men’s contracted players – Medin Memeti, Lawrence Wong and Lachie Charles – have earned selection for Australia’s U18 squad heading to Switzerland for the UEFA Friendship Cup.
Memeti, a member of the recent AFC U20 Asian Cup-winning team, continues to build an impressive national team résumé and will relish another chance to shine in green and gold.
Wong, another regular in City’s ALM side, will be looking to impress on the international stage, while goalkeeper Charles earns selection following a standout season to date at VPL1 level.
Australia will take on Argentina, France and the United States in the tournament, which kicks off from 1 June in Nyon.
Young Socceroos: U20s v Argentina 🇦🇷

City striker Max Caputo has been included in the Young Socceroos squad to face Argentina in a two-match friendly series in Buenos Aires.
Capping off a breakout ALM season, Caputo will turn his attention to international duty following our Finals campaign with September’s FIFA U20 World Cup drawing closer.
The matches, scheduled for 6 and 9 June, will be played at the recently renamed Lionel Messi Training Centre and form a crucial part of Australia’s preparation for the global stage.
Olyroos: U23s v Korea Republic 🇰🇷
Patrick Beach and Alessandro Lopane have been called up to the Olyroos squad for next month’s international window in Korea Republic.
Both players have been strong contributors at senior level for City this season, and will now look to impress as Australia continues to prepare for its AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers in September.
With Lopane returning from a long injury layoff earlier this year and Beach establishing himself in goal, the pair will relish the chance to test themselves against strong opposition on the international stage.
Melbourne City congratulates all players selected and wishes them every success while representing our country!
