CHAIRMAN: Melbourne City’s sustained success a point of pride

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has praised Melbourne City for another impressive season, describing the Club as a shining example of consistency, careful growth and sustained success across both the Men’s and Women’s teams.

Despite injuries to key players, the Men’s team showed resilience and determination to qualify for next season’s AFC Champions League Elite, and now have the chance to add to the silverware cabinet in Saturday night’s sold-out Melbourne Derby Grand Final against Melbourne Victory.

Meanwhile, the Women’s team made history by becoming the first A-League Women side to complete a full home-and-away season unbeaten, securing back-to-back Premiers Plate titles, reaching the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League Final and securing qualification for next season’s tournament.

Speaking in his annual end-of-season interview, the Chairman reflected on the strides made by the Club and highlighted Melbourne City as a blueprint for long-term development and success within the City Football Group family.

“Very pleased because again Melbourne is a great example of a club that through those years of careful management and careful investment and putting that club to where it is today. You see the consistency, a team always competing, year in, year out, to win.

“We are in the Grand Final, that’s going to be played next Saturday. We’re there, we’re always there. I think that’s the great thing. Now you’re seeing it with the women’s team, reaching the Asian Champions League final – we’re there, and that’s what’s great about Melbourne and what we’ve accomplished in that club.”

Whether it’s been on the pitch, in the stands, or throughout the community, 2024/25 has once again underlined Melbourne City’s commitment to excellence and growth, with the Chairman’s words reinforcing the Club’s long-term ambition to remain a leading force in Australian and Asian football.
