CALLED UP: McMahon and Apostolakis named in Young Matildas squad

Melbourne City duo Shelby McMahon and Alexia Apostolakis have been named in the Young Matildas squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s International Window in June and July.

The pair have been selected by Australian U20 Women’s National Team Head Coach Alex Epakis for the Young Matildas Domestic Camp, set to take place from Monday 23 June to Wednesday 2 July 2025.

Apostolakis enjoyed a standout debut season in City colours, which saw her named the Club’s Rising Star at the 2025 Player of the Year Awards as well as earning PFA Team of the Season honours.

McMahon’s call-up follows an eye-catching AFC Women’s Champions League campaign, where the midfielder scored in both the Semi-Final and Final, becoming the youngest goal scorer in the competition’s history and earning Player of the Match honours in the Semi.

Both players were key contributors in City’s 2024/25 Premiership-winning season and will now look to continue their development at international level.
