City legend signs two-year contract extension

Melbourne City FC is proud to confirm that Women’s Captain Rebekah Stott has re-signed with the Club on a new two-year deal.

A true City legend, Stott has lifted more silverware than any other player in Club history – an extraordinary eight trophies, including four Premierships and four Championships.

Since returning to Melbourne in August 2023, the New Zealand international has captained the side to back-to-back Premiers Plates, leading by example on and off the pitch.

Last season’s triumph was particularly historic, with City completing an invincible campaign – the third time Stott has been part of an unbeaten season in City colours.

With 125 appearances, she stands as the Club’s all-time Women’s appearance leader and ranks fifth overall in Melbourne City history – an incredible feat, particularly having played just two full home-and-away seasons.

Her re-signing adds experience, leadership and continuity to Michael Matricciani’s squad as the team targets more silverware both domestically and on the continental stage.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“We’re thrilled to have Rebekah commit to another two seasons at Melbourne City.

“She is the ultimate professional and embodies everything we want our players to represent. Her leadership, drive and connection to the Club are second to none.

“Stotty sets the standard for those around her and continues to be a key figure in the success of our Women’s program. She has led the team brilliantly over the last few years, and we have no doubt she still has plenty of great football ahead of her.”

Rebekah Stott said:

“I’m incredibly proud to be continuing my journey with Melbourne City. This Club means so much to me, it’s where I’ve made lifelong memories, lifted trophies, and it’s become home.

“Striving for success is part of the culture at City, and I’m not done yet. We’ve achieved a lot together, but I’m still hungry. I want to keep pushing boundaries, chasing more silverware, and making more history with this amazing group.

“The culture we’ve built here is something really special. From the staff to the players and the fans, it’s a family. I’m excited to lead the team into this next chapter and see just how far we can go both in Australia and beyond.”
