Dual Premiership winner extends stay at City

Melbourne City FC is delighted to confirm that Leticia McKenna has re-signed with the Club on a new two-year deal.

Since arriving ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, the 22-year-old has become a key figure in City’s midfield and a driving force in one of the most successful periods in the Club’s history – lifting back-to-back Premiers Plates during her time in Melbourne.

The 2024/25 season was McKenna’s most impactful yet, thriving under Head Coach Michael Matricciani and emerging as one of City’s most consistent and influential performers.

She featured in all 31 matches across the A-League Women’s and AFC Women’s Champions League competitions, starting 25 and scoring a career-best six goals.

Her strong form helped fuel City’s domestic success and played a crucial role in the team’s run to the AFC Women’s Champions League Final – underlining her growing influence on both the domestic and continental stage.

McKenna has now surpassed 100 senior appearances in her career, including 86 in City colours – placing her second only to City Captain Rebekah Stott for most appearances by a Women’s player in Club history.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Leticia has grown into one of the most dependable and important members of our Women’s team over the past four seasons.

“To have played over 100 senior matches by the age of 23 is a remarkable achievement and speaks to her quality, professionalism, and consistency.

“We’re excited to see her continue to develop and play a leading role as we push for more success in the years to come.”

Leticia McKenna said:

“I’m really excited to be staying at City, it’s a Club that’s helped me grow so much both on and off the pitch.

“The standards are incredibly high here and everyday I’m surrounded by players and staff who push me to keep improving and that’s exactly the kind of environment I want to be in.

“Last season was an important one on both a personal and team-level, and I can’t wait to help this team achieve even more success in the seasons ahead.”
