City and Matildas midfielder pens two-year extension

Melbourne City FC is delighted to confirm that Matildas midfielder, Leah Davidson, has signed a two-year contract extension.

Sitting equal third on the Club’s all-time Women’s appearance list with 85 matches, Davidson is well on track to join Captain Rebekah Stott in the 100 club – a testament to her consistency, durability and contribution over the past five seasons.

A mainstay in midfield during back-to-back Premiership-winning campaigns, Davidson has been a key figure in City’s recent success, with her development rewarded by a maiden Matildas call-up in December 2024.

She made an immediate impact on the international stage, scoring on debut against Chinese Taipei and has now earned four senior caps. At just 24, she’ll be aiming to build on that momentum and push for selection ahead of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup on home soil.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Leah has become a key figure in our squad over the past five seasons, and we’re thrilled to see her extend her time at the Club.

“She’s developed into a consistently high performer at A-League Women’s level, and her recent Matildas appearances are a reflection of the work she’s put in.

“We’re confident Leah will continue to be an integral member of our squad as we pursue more success over the coming seasons.”

Leah Davidson said:

“I’ve grown so much over my time at City – both on and off the pitch – and I couldn’t be happier to re-sign for another two seasons.

“It’s been really special to be part of this group and contribute to the success we’ve had. I still feel like there’s so much more I can achieve here, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
