Melbourne City’s City Football School (CFS) coaches have returned to Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School in Term 3, taking the reins of the school’s interschool football teams as part of an ongoing partnership.
Following the success of last year’s collaboration, the continued program gives Lowther Hall students access to coaching based on the City Football School methodology, emphasising technical development, tactical understanding, and personal growth through the game.
Earlier this year, students at Lowther Hall were inspired by a special all-school assembly featuring Melbourne City and Matildas stars Karly Roestbakken and Laura Hughes, who spoke about balancing the demands of elite football and education, and encouraged students to pursue their passions both on and off the pitch.

Lowther Hall’s Director of Sport, Vicki Hoban, praised the impact of the initiative: “Our students are learning from some of the best coaches in the country.
“The City coaches build strong relationships with the girls, and it’s translating into results on the field.
“More importantly, it’s building their confidence and love for the game.”
Head Coach at City Football School, Fabian Lenarcik, said the program is as rewarding for the coaching staff as it is for the students.
“Working with schools like Lowther Hall is a fantastic opportunity. Our coaches love being in these environments, sharing what we know, seeing the progress students make, and being part of their sporting journey. Programs like this create real impact, and it’s a privilege for our coaches to play a part in that journey.”
The partnership is one of several community-based football initiatives run by the Melbourne City Football School and Melbourne City FC, aiming to grow the game, build confidence in young players, and bring elite coaching to schools and local clubs across Victoria.
