Australian U23 international joins Melbourne City

Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce the signing of Australian U23 international Aideen Keane ahead of the 2025/26 A-League Women’s season.

The 23-year-old winger joins City on the back of a standout campaign with Australia’s U23 squad at the ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup, where she played a key role in the team’s title-winning run.

Keane scored in the Semi-Final before providing the Championship-winning assist in the Final, underlining her knack for producing in big moments.

With five A-League Women’s seasons already under her belt, Keane brings further experience to Michael Matricciani’s side. She has made 39 league appearances and scored four goals to date, most recently with Canberra United, and previously won a Championship with Sydney FC.

A technically gifted and hardworking wide player, Keane is known for her ability to create and finish chances, often finding herself at the heart of attacking moves. She also adds continental experience to the squad, having featured in the 2023 AFC Women’s Club Championship.

Her arrival further strengthens a City attack already boasting the likes of Holly McNamara, Bryleeh Henry and Leticia McKenna, adding depth and versatility ahead of another demanding campaign both domestically and in Asia.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Aideen to Melbourne City. She’s a dynamic attacking player who has already shown her quality both in the A-League Women’s and with the Australian U23 team.

“Her technical ability and work rate strengthens our squad, and we believe she has the potential to take her game to another level in our environment. We’re excited to see the impact she can make this season.”

Aideen Keane said:

“I’m so excited to be joining Melbourne City, a Club with such a strong reputation and history of success.

“I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the culture and professionalism here, and I can’t wait to challenge myself in this environment.

“My focus is on working hard, contributing to the team in any way I can, and hopefully helping the Club achieve even more success this season.”
