An extended away trip awaits Melbourne City, with the squad departing Melbourne on Monday afternoon for two matches on the road in the space of four days.
City will first be in action on Tuesday night, travelling to Brisbane to take on the Roar, before heading directly west to Perth to prepare for a Saturday night clash against the Glory. With valuable points on the line in both fixtures, it shapes as an important period in the Ninja A-League season.
Michael Matricciani’s side will enter Tuesday night’s contest eager to respond after a disappointing home defeat to Newcastle Jets last time out. Having shown strong form in the weeks prior, City will be determined to rediscover that edge and put together a complete performance as the busy stretch begins.
The City Head Coach has now confirmed his extended squad for the away trip, with mixed news on the selection front. There is a welcome boost with the return of Shelby McMahon, who has been cleared to rejoin the squad after spending the past month on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury.
Unfortunately, we’ll be without Danella Butrus, with the young winger ruled out of the trip after entering concussion protocols. Keira Sarris has been promoted to the otherwise unchanged extended squad, continuing her involvement with the group as City prepares for the challenges ahead on the road.
