ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW: Macca’s City Cup

A huge weekend of football is coming.

The Macca’s City Cup takes over from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March, bringing together young players, families and fans for three days of football, fun and unforgettable experiences.

The tournament will see boys’ and girls’ teams compete in divisions from Under 7s through to Under 16s, all chasing the chance to be crowned Macca’s City Cup Champions.

In total, 386 teams from 101 clubs across Australia will take part, with the furthest side travelling all the way from Townsville, a true showcase of the game’s growth and reach across the country.

With matches happening across the precinct and a packed schedule of activations, it’s more than just a tournament, it’s a full festival of football at the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus.

Across the weekend, City Square will be buzzing with activity, giving players, families and fans the chance to relax, connect and enjoy everything the Macca’s City Cup has to offer.

MACCA’S ACTIVATIONS

Football fun starts here.

Head to the Macca’s Player Card Trading Zone to collect a player card pack and start swapping with friends as you look to complete your set. Hold onto your pack too – you might even get the chance to have it signed by a player on Saturday.

Put your skills to the test in the Macca’s Keepy-Uppy Challenge, where you can go head-to-head with friends and try to climb the leaderboard.

Then step up and take your shot at the Macca’s Inflatable Goal, with plenty of giveaways up for grabs including drink bottles, bags and mini footballs.

EA SPORTS FC Gaming Zone

Step into the EA FC 26 Gaming Zone and take control.

Jump on the sticks and take on your mates, with 1,000 EA FC pins to be won just for getting involved. Keep an eye out for the special pins – 20 lucky winners will unlock major prizes including a signed Melbourne City team jersey and exclusive EA giveaways.

Gumbuya World (Sunday only)

Sunday brings something a little different.

As Melbourne City’s Official Theme Park Partner, Gumbuya World will be bringing the wild to City Square with a series of wildlife experiences and special appearances.

11:00am – 11:30am: Python Ranger Session
11:30am – 12:00pm: Easter Bunny
12:00pm – 12:30pm: Surprise Wildlife Ranger Session
12:30pm – 1:00pm: Gumbo
1:00pm – 1:30pm: Lizard Ranger Session
1:30pm – 2:00pm: Surprise Wildlife Ranger Session
2:00pm – 2:30pm: Easter Bunny

Fans can enjoy ranger sessions, meet native animals and catch appearances from Gumbo and the Easter Bunny throughout the day, making it a must-visit for families.

Nostra Homes Kids Zone

Head into the Nostra Homes Kids Zone for plenty of creative fun.

Young fans can get stuck into a range of colouring activities or show their City pride with face painting in club colours. It’s the perfect space to relax, get creative and enjoy the atmosphere.

Face painting will be available between 11am and 2pm, so make sure you stop by and join in the fun.

Federation University

Step into the Federation University marquee and test your vertical leap.

Take on the jump test and see how you stack up against your favourite Melbourne City stars. It’s your chance to challenge yourself and see if you’ve got what it takes.

While you’re there, learn more about Federation University and the Melbourne City Institute of Sport and Business, helping shape the next generation of City talent off the pitch through a Diploma of Business and Sports Management.

TAC Activation

Get ready for some serious fun at the Macca’s City Cup! 

The TAC is bringing the ultimate game zone to City Square, packed with giant activities for everyone to enjoy. Challenge your friends to a supersized game of tic-tac-toe, test your memory with our giant memory card game, or jump into crowd favourites like Jenga and Connect Four.

Every game is designed to get you thinking about making the right choices, while still having a great time. Plus, there are drink bottles and bags up for grabs when you get involved!

And don’t worry… this isn’t just for the kids, everyone’s invited to play.  

This activation will at City Square for Saturday 28 March only.

Melbourne City Soccer Darts and the Spinning Prize Wheel

Put your skills to the test with Melbourne City Soccer Darts and the Spinning Prize Wheel.

Take your shot at the Soccer Darts board, aiming for the targets and showing off your accuracy. Then head over to the spinning wheel for your chance to win a range of Melbourne City giveaways.

There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, including signed posters, mini footballs and lucky dip rewards. You might even land special offers like a $10 family ticket or a Macca’s Birthday Party experience.

It’s the perfect place to have a go, win something City and discover more about our programs and initiatives.

ALPHA GEAR

Check out Alpha Gear at City Square for all your football essentials.

From portable goals and target nets to rebounders and agility poles, Alpha Gear brings a full range of high quality equipment to help take your game to the next level. Whether you’re gearing up for your own training or supporting your local club, there’s something for every player.

Kids can also jump into the action with a football challenge using Alpha Gear equipment, putting their skills to the test in a fun and interactive way.

FOOD OPTIONS

There will be food options available across the event.

At the City Football Academy, the main canteen will be open throughout the tournament along with food trucks out the front of the CFA building.

The majority of food trucks will be available alongside City Square. Head to the main food precinct, located next to City Square at the netball courts at Casey Fields 

There will also be some food truck options at the rugby pitches at Casey Fields.

Please note, if you’re heading to Inez Hunter Reserve or Ramleigh Reserve, there will be two food truck options each at the venues.

GETTING THERE

Please plan your journey ahead of time and leave plenty of time to allow for traffic conditions as there will be a few interruptions on key roads.

Eastern Freeway 

From 10:00pm on Friday 27 March to 5:00am on Monday 30 March, the Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between Bulleen and Doncaster roads. Some freeway ramps will also be closed, to help ease traffic congestions along the detour route.

PARKING

There will be free parking available throughout Casey Fields, Inez Hunter Reserve and Ramlegh Reserve for tournament.  Please ensure you’re parking in designated parking areas only.
