Melbourne City forward Chinaza Uchendu will miss the remainder of the Ninja A-League season due to suspension.
The Nigerian international was shown a straight red card in the first half of our win over Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday 22 March.
Football Australia’s Match Review Panel subsequently determined that Uchendu had committed the offence of assault on a player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball or against any other person other than a Match Official, including an attempted assault), initially proposing a four-match suspension.
Following referral to Football Australia’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, that sanction was reduced to three matches.
In addition, Football Australia has today confirmed a further one-match suspension for an offensive gesture made when leaving the field of play.
The Club has accepted both sanctions, with Uchendu set to miss a total of four matches (one of which has already been served), ruling her out for the remainder of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League season.
