Melbourne City will be represented on both sides of the Tasman this weekend, with Finals fixtures now locked in for both our Men’s and Women’s teams.
Following confirmation from the Australian Professional Leagues on Sunday night, it sets the stage for a huge Super Saturday of Finals football.
Our Men’s side will kick things off across the ditch, travelling to New Zealand for a do-or-die Elimination Final against Auckland FC. The clash will be played at Go Media Stadium on Saturday 2 May, kicking off at 3:00pm (AEST), with the match available to watch live on Paramount+.
After falling short of locking in a home final on the final day of the season, we’ll now be looking to quickly move on and shift focus as we prepare for a strong Auckland outfit in what shapes as a blockbuster Finals encounter.
Should we progress, it would set up a two-legged Semi Final tie against Newcastle Jets, with the first leg to be played at AAMI Park next weekend.
Later on Saturday evening, attention turns back to Melbourne for a massive Derby Semi Final in the Ninja A-League.
After earning a week off thanks to our history-making third consecutive Premiers Plate, our City Women will face Melbourne Victory across two legs for a place in the Grand Final.
The first leg will be played at AAMI Park on Saturday 2 May, with a 5:00pm (AEST) kick-off. Despite being the away side, it will be a familiar setting as we take on our crosstown rivals in a high-stakes Finals clash.
Victory booked their place in the Semi Finals with a 3-1 win over Canberra United, setting up what promises to be another thrilling chapter in the Melbourne Derby.
Tickets for the first leg will go on sale exclusively to members at 9am on Tuesday 28 April, with general public onsale to follow at 4pm. Full details will be emailed to members.
With both sides in action on the same day and so much on the line, it shapes as a massive day for City.
