A flying start

It all begins across the ditch on Saturday 17 October, where we’ll take on reigning Champions Auckland FC in an Elimination Final rematch.

Just seven days later comes our first match in Melbourne as we face Melbourne Victory in the first away Derby of the season, before returning to AAMI Park for our official home opener against Patrick Kisnorbo’s Sydney FC on Saturday 31 October.

With a family-friendly 5:00pm kick-off on Halloween, it’ll be the perfect way to kick off our home campaign before another huge challenge awaits the following weekend against Western Sydney Wanderers.

It’s a four-match stretch packed with storylines, rivalries and early opportunities to build momentum before the first international break of the season.

Festive football returns

After a busy opening month, the action quickly ramps up again as the festive period delivers another run of can’t-miss football.

Our annual Christmas Derby returns to AAMI Park on Saturday 19 December, before we welcome Auckland FC eight days later in the first home Trans-Tasman clash of the season.

With kick-off scheduled shortly after stumps on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test, sports fans will be able to take in two Australia-New Zealand sporting contests in the one day with just a short walk between the MCG and AAMI Park.

The year then finishes on the road with a New Year’s Eve trip to Gosford to face the Central Coast Mariners, giving City fans football right across the holiday period.

Summer football at AAMI Park

The new year begins with back-to-back Sunday evening home fixtures against Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar, before the schedule swings towards a demanding stretch on the road.

Away trips to Newcastle, Western Sydney, Adelaide and Sydney will test the squad through January and February, while home clashes with the Mariners and Phoenix ensure there’ll still be plenty of opportunities to get behind the boys at AAMI Park throughout the summer.

Built for a big finish

Should the race for the Premiers Plate or Finals spots come down to the closing weeks of the season, City fans will have a huge role to play.

Eight of our final 11 matches will be played at AAMI Park, including home fixtures against Adelaide, Macarthur, Perth, Central Coast and Newcastle.

Our final trip away from Melbourne comes in ANZAC Round against Wellington Phoenix before we close the regular season with consecutive home matches against the Mariners and Jets.

With big rivalries, holiday football and a home-heavy finish all locked in, the countdown to the new campaign is officially on.
