AWAY DAYS RANKED: The best trips to follow your City boys this season!

The fixtures are locked in, flights are starting to be booked, and the group chats are already buzzing.

So naturally, we did what any sensible football club would do…

We asked around the office to rank the best away days of the 2026/27 season.

After plenty of debate (and absolutely no bias to the content team whatsoever), here’s our completely scientific top five.

5. Brisbane Roar – Saturday 3 April

Need one last hit of summer before Melbourne remembers it’s autumn?

Brisbane has you covered.

A weekend in the Queensland sunshine, a trip to Suncorp Stadium and the chance to watch the City boys in action sounds like a pretty good excuse for a getaway.

It doesn’t hurt that we’ve enjoyed ourselves north of the border in recent years either, winning three of our last four matches in Queensland since 2022.

4. Sydney FC – Sunday 7 February

We’ll admit it…

The Sunday fixture does cost this one a couple of points.

That said, if you’re willing to pull the occasional tactical Monday sickie (we’re definitely not encouraging it…), Sydney makes for a terrific away trip.

Flights are plentiful, Allianz Stadium is easy to get to, and there’s certainly worse places to spend a summer weekend before cheering on the boys.

Melbourne’s still the better city though.

3. Adelaide United – Friday 29 January

While AAMI Park will always be number one in our hearts (totally unbiased), Coopers Stadium isn’t far behind when it comes to watching football. There’s even a stand named after our gaffer!

Friday night under the lights. A short flight. Your entire weekend still ahead of you.

Whether you’re heading for the Barossa, the beach or… whatever else people actually do in Adelaide, this one’s hard to beat.

It only loses a few points because, well… we’ve all got a few Adelaide-related scars we’d rather forget.

2. Auckland FC – Saturday 17 October

You don’t often get the chance to follow City internationally.

That alone makes this one special.

Sure, it might stretch the travel budget a little more than the others, but what better way to kick off the season than crossing the ditch to watch our boys take on the reigning Champions?

After last season’s heartbreaking Finals exit, we’d love nothing more than to spoil the party early and begin the season with a big three points.

1. Central Coast Mariners – Thursday 31 December

New Year’s Eve. Football. The beach.

Need we say more?

Sure, Gosford isn’t the easiest away trip on the calendar. There’s the flight to Sydney, the train north and a little more planning than some of the others.

But those willing to make the journey are rewarded with one of the most picturesque venues in the A-League, before ringing in the New Year after cheering on the City boys.

Honestly… we’re struggling to think of a better way to spend 31 December.
