GAC Australia and Melbourne City FC announce multi-year partnership

GAC Australia and Melbourne City FC have announced a new multi-year partnership, which will see the automotive pioneer become the Official Automotive Partner of the club from the 2026/27 season.

The agreement will see the GAC logo feature prominently across the playing shorts of Melbourne City’s A-League Men’s and Women’s teams.

Beyond its presence on the Club’s playing shorts, GAC will be involved in extensive match-day activations at AAMI Park, fan engagement experiences, player appearances, and digital collaborations across Melbourne City FC’s platforms. These activations all form part of a longer-term investment for GAC; an ambitious innovator which recently manufactured its 30 millionth vehicle since its inception in 1997.

Similarly to Melbourne City’s connection to the City Football Group, GAC draws on an extensive international network and global expertise. With world-class design studios and R&D facilities in Milan, Shanghai and its headquarters in Guangzhou, GAC utilises the very best global expertise to enhance its local approach in Australia – just as Melbourne City FC does.

GAC International Australia CEO Kevin Shu said, “Melbourne City FC has an incredible history in all A-League competitions and like this club, we always give 100% effort to all that we do. We are ambitious for where we want to be over the coming years and in the same way this team approaches the game, we seek exciting yet sustainable ways to strengthen our position in the market and to engage with the club’s supporters”.

“This new and exciting relationship provides another opportunity to showcase our innovative range to an extended audience of football fans across the country. We are passionate to build something meaningful over the longer term”.

Melbourne City FC CEO Brad Rowse said, “We’re delighted to welcome GAC Australia to Melbourne City as our Official Automotive Partner.

“This is a significant multi-year partnership that will see GAC become part of the Melbourne City family, with a strong presence across our A-League Men’s and Women’s teams and opportunities to connect with City fans.

“GAC shares our ambition to innovate, challenge expectations and invest for the long term. Its combination of global expertise and commitment to growing in Australia makes it a natural fit for Melbourne City, and we look forward to helping GAC build a meaningful connection with our members, fans and the wider local community.”

The partnership will commence with the 2026/27 season, with the opening round of the A-League Men season beginning on 17 October 2026.
