Melbourne City’s Karly Roestbakken has become the fifth and final player selected in the A-League Women All Stars squad, capping off the Club’s strong representation for next month’s blockbuster clash against Chelsea Women.
Roestbakken joins teammates Rebekah Stott, Shelby McMahon, Leticia McKenna and Aideen Keane in the squad, while City legend Melissa Barbieri has been appointed as an Assistant Coach, underlining City’s influence following its historic Premiership-Championship winning campaign.
The versatile defender once again proved a vital part of Michael Matricciani’s side throughout the 2025/26 season, helping City secure a record-breaking third consecutive Premiership before lifting the Club’s first Championship since 2020 with a 3-1 Grand Final victory over Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park.
For Roestbakken, the triumph added another Premiership to an already impressive collection, with the defender now a three-time consecutive Premiers Plate winner while also celebrating her maiden A-League Women Championship.
A model of consistency throughout the campaign, the reliable fullback was a key figure at both ends of the pitch.
Equally comfortable shutting down opposition attacks as she was driving forward to support City’s attack, Roestbakken’s energy, defensive awareness and attacking quality made her an integral part of one of the competition’s most formidable backlines.
Her performances across another successful campaign have now been rewarded with selection in the A-League Women All Stars, where she will have the opportunity to test herself against one of the world’s strongest clubs when the All Stars face Chelsea Women at the Sydney Super Cup on August 12, 2026.
The fixture also presents another chance for Roestbakken to line up alongside some of the Ninja A-League’s finest, including four of her Melbourne City teammates, while coming up against former City Premiership and Championship winner Ellie Carpenter.
Roestbakken’s selection completes an impressive All Stars contingent for City, with five members of the Club’s double-winning squad recognised among the league’s best and Barbieri joining the coaching staff for the prestigious fixture.
