Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce Spanish goalkeeper Malena Mieres has re-signed with the Club for the 2026/27 season.
The deal will see Mieres enter her third season at City after playing an integral role in one of the most successful periods in the Club’s history.
Since arriving ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Mieres has established herself as one of the competition’s premier goalkeepers, making 55 appearances across all competitions while helping City secure back-to-back Premierships and the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Championship.
Known for her composure, commanding presence and outstanding shot-stopping ability, Mieres has been a cornerstone of City’s defensive success, consistently producing crucial saves in the biggest moments.
Her re-signing provides another significant boost to City’s squad as the reigning Premiers and Champions prepare to defend domestic titles while embarking on a third consecutive AFC Women’s Champions League campaign.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said retaining Mieres was an important piece of the Club’s planning for the season ahead.
“Malena has been a key part of our success over the past two seasons,” Petrillo said.
“She’s an outstanding shot-stopper, but just as importantly she gives us so much with the ball at her feet. Her composure, decision-making and ability to help us build our play from the back make her a perfect fit for the way we want to play.
“We’re delighted to have Malena continue with the Club as we look to compete for more success this season.”
Mieres said she was excited to continue her journey with Melbourne City.
