Melbourne City FC Academy graduate Lachie Charles has joined Oakleigh Cannons on loan for the upcoming 2026 Australian Championship.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper, who signed his first professional contract with City in October 2024, will link up with Oakleigh to gain valuable senior experience throughout the Cannons’ Australian Championship campaign.
Charles made his professional debut in the 2025 Australia Cup before playing a key role in City’s Youth Team earning promotion to the NPL, saving three penalties in the decisive shootout and being named VPL1 Goalkeeper of the Year.
He has continued to feature regularly at NPL level throughout 2026, making 22 appearances for City’s Youth Team.
