After a breakout campaign, Max Caputo has signed a new three-year contract extension that will see him remain in City blue until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Despite being sidelined for the first half of the season with a serious leg injury, Caputo made his return in February and went on to start every match for the remainder of the campaign.
He marked his comeback with a brace in a 2-0 home win over Macarthur a month later and continued to impress across the back end of the season, all while still just 19 years of age.

Caputo finished with six goals in all competitions, earning a share of the Club’s Golden Boot despite his extended period on the sidelines.
A product of the City Academy, Caputo also played a crucial role in the build-up to the Championship-winning goal – rattling the crossbar after an Andreas Kuen cutback, before Yonatan Cohen tucked away the rebound.

Now locked in for the long term and with a full pre-season ahead, Caputo will look to continue his development under Aurelio Vidmar and build on his impressive 2024/25 campaign.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:
“Max is a bright talent who has all the tools to have a great career not just at Melbourne City, but potentially for the national team and overseas in the years ahead.
“His work ethic and professionalism throughout his rehab were outstanding, and with a full pre-season under his belt, we’re confident he’ll take another big step forward next season.”
Max Caputo said:
“Melbourne City has been my home for a long time, so I’m really excited to have signed on for another three years.
“The Club has supported me massively on and off the pitch, especially during my recovery.
“To play in a winning Grand Final in front of the City fans was a moment I’ll never forget and I’m looking forward to continuing to play a part in the team’s success in the years to come.”
