Aziz Behich to join Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on loan until the end of the season

Melbourne City FC defender and Australian international, Aziz Behich, has today joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr FC on loan for the remainder of the season.

Currently in Qatar with the Socceroos for the AFC Asian Cup, the 33-year-old will head to Saudi Arabia to link up with his new teammates following the tournament.

Capped 58-times for the Socceroos, Behich’s loan move is in line with the Club’s record-breaking deals in recent months.

Behich made 89 appearances for Melbourne Heart between 2010-2013. The 33-year-old rejoined City ahead of the 2023/24 A-League Men’s season, signing a two-year contract for the Club who launched his European career.

The fullback has made 16 appearances, scoring one goal, for City in all competitions this season.

Everyone at Melbourne City wishes Aziz the best of luck during his time at Al Nassr and we look forward to welcoming him back later this year.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Whilst we are disappointed to lose Aziz for the remainder of this season, this was an exciting opportunity for him as a professional footballer, and we did not want to stand in the way.

“We’ll be following his time in Saudi Arabia closely and look forward to him returning to Melbourne in a few months’ time to prepare for the 2024/25 season.

“Though we are confident in the depth of our squad to cover Aziz, we are talking with a number of players and hope to have some new exciting announcements to share in the coming days.”
