Melbourne City FC will be looking to extend their winning streak when they travel to Auckland to play the Wellington Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

In two previous meetings between the two sides this season, Warren Joyce’s men have been victorious on both occasions – a streak that they will be looking to continue.

Don’t miss any of the action, as the in-form team from Melbourne travel to QBE Stadium in Auckland on Saturday, kick-off 5:35pm (AEDT).

Third is in the bag

Sydney FC’s win in the Big Blue on Friday night confirmed City will finish third in the A-League.

With the result, the pressure is off City who will look to use the game in Auckland as an important tune up for week one of the finals.

The third spot finish will place City in the best possible position to progress through to the Semi-Finals, making Saturday’s game a must-win.

Four from four?

City’s 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners last Saturday night saw the team extend their winning run to three successive games.

One of the most influential factors behind City’s run of form has been the performance of their attacking trio, as Daniel Arzani, Bruno Fornaroli and Dario Vidosic continue to flourish. All eyes will be on the trio come Saturday afternoon, as City fans will be eager to claim another important three points.

Can the team is City blue make it four from four and replicate their early season form? We will soon find out!

Bruno’s back with a bite

There were a lot of questions raised about the form of Bruno Fornaroli before his return from a long-term ankle injury, and it’s safe to say that he has answered those emphatically.

The star-striker has now scored four goals in five matches following his sublime winner against the Mariners last weekend and there are little signs of him slowing down.

Fornaroli will see Saturday afternoon’s match as another opportunity to play 90 minutes before the 2017-18 Finals Series, which is a frightening prospect for any opposition.

Eyes on next week

Momentum plays a huge role in sport, and football is no different.

After a string of four games undefeated, including three consecutive wins, City will be looking to continue their run of form in the lead-up to next Friday night’s crucial Elimination Final at AAMI Park.

A positive result against the ‘Nix on Saturday afternoon and there is no doubt that City will head into next weekend’s must-win clash full of confidence.
