City stars Mathew Leckie, Florin Berenguer, Jamie Maclaren and Richard van der Venne have all been nominated for the A-League Men Player of the Month for February.
Following a month that saw Rado Vidosic’s men secure three wins from four, netting 15 goals, City’s stars make up four of the 10 nominees – the highest representation of any club for the month.
February started in incredible fashion for van der Venne who secured an impressive hat trick in a man-of-the-match performance against Macarthur. His three goals and two assists saw him finish the month with an Opta Index Rating of 79.9 – the third highest of the POTM nominees.

In the 6-1 win over Macarthur at home, Maclaren also began the month on a high, registering a brace of his own. As it normally does with Macca, the goals continued to flow throughout the month, as he registered another brace against Sydney FC.

Leckie was another who found the back of the net in the month of February with his spectacular bicycle goal against the Glory and his brace in the Melbourne Derby – his three goals to go alongside two assists a reflection of his dominant month. Leckie recorded an Opta Index Rating of 84.5, higher than any other player nominated.
Following a long layoff with injury, Berenguer wasted no time showcasing his ability to the league as he bolstered City’s attack. The silky-skilled midfielder who scored against Perth was rewarded for his strong return with a POTM nomination.
