ALW Final Round: It’s all on the line

Our City Women are preparing for a blockbuster clash with Canberra United on Sunday evening with both teams vying for a spot in the A-League Women’s finals series.

With one game left to play in the regular season, it’s all to play for. Four teams remain in the hunt for the final two positions in the top four.

We’ve got you covered with what it all means for our City Women.

If we win…

Three points on Sunday will see us secure third position on the league ladder and a home semi-final against the fourth-placed finisher.

If we draw…

A draw will also guarantee us a spot in the finals series, but not necessarily a home semi-final.

If we draw, the only way we don’t host a semi-final is if Melbourne Victory win. A Victory win will see us finish fourth and play in an away Melbourne Derby semi.

If we lose…

If Canberra United are to secure their spot in the finals with a win over City, we will need Wellington Phoenix to defeat Melbourne Victory.

If we lose and Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix draw, it will all come down to goal difference.

With all other remaining fixtures taking place on Saturday, the equation will be very clear for our team heading into Sunday’s clash with Canberra United.

Get down and support our teams in a huge doubleheader at AAMI Park this Sunday 2 April. Our Men take on Newcastle Jets at 3:00pm, before our Women host Canberra United at 5:40pm.
