It’s all on the line
The winner of Sunday’s Semi Final will book their spot in the Australia Cup Final.
Down to the final four, it’s do-or-die football with a piece of silverware within touching distance on the line.
We’re set for a blockbuster clash between two teams who have lifted the Australia Cup once before. City’s trophy coming against Sydney FC in a 1-0 win at AAMI Park in 2016, the same venue the two A-Leagues sides will battle it out at on Sunday.
Four in a row?
City’s star new signing, Tolgay Arslan, has had a red-hot start to the Australia Cup competition, finding the back of the net in each of City’s three matches leading into the Semi Final.
The midfielder opened his account with a brace against Oakleigh Cannons, before finding the back of the net against both Wellington Phoenix and MetroStars to make it four goals in three Cup fixtures.
Can Arslan score in four consecutive Australia Cup fixtures? Grab your tickets to the match and find out!
Our run of games continues
City’s busy pre-season continues and with several fresh faces in the team, Sunday’s Semi Final is yet another chance for Head Coach Rado Vidosic’s side to continue gelling and extend their unbeaten run.
With under a month to go until the A-League Men’s season commences, City face a challenging schedule between Australia Cup and AFC Champions League fixtures.
Vidosic’s side will host Sydney FC on Sunday, before jetting to China to take on Zheijang on Wednesday 4 October.
