Melbourne City will host Sydney FC on Sunday afternoon in a blockbuster Australia Cup Semi Final.
City will look to book a place in the Final when Head Coach Rado Vidosic’s team take on Sydney FC on Sunday 24 September at AAMI Park, kick-off 3:00pm. Ticketing information to come.
Vidosic’s men progressed through to the Semi Finals after a late Quarter Final comeback in Adelaide against MetroStars last Thursday.
A 27th minute strike from the hosts saw City go into the half-time interval trailing 1-0, before a late surge saw City secure a place in the Semis.
A beautiful ball from Hamza Sakhi found second-half substitute Terry Antonis, whose perfectly weighted cross was nodded home by Curtis Good in the 84th minute.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time, it was 18-year-old debutant Harry Shillington who won a penalty which was put away on the follow-up by Tolgay Arslan – his fourth goal of the competition.
City will open their AFC Champions League campaign at home on Wednesday night before hosting the Australia Cup Semi Final on Sunday.
