City set to face first pre-season opponent

Melbourne City FC will commence preparations for the 2016 Westfield FFA Cup with a pre-season friendly match against Victorian PS4 National Premier Leagues outfit Port Melbourne Sharks.

City travels to Western Australia in the first week of August to challenge Perth-based side Floreat Athena in the Round of 32 of the FFA Cup and will utilise friendliy against local-league side Port Melbourne to prepare for the first-round knockout clash.

City will travel to JL Murphy Reserve on Wednesday 20 July to face Port Melbourne in the Club’s first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, following the commencement of pre-season in the final week of June.

The Sharks will provide John van’t Schip’s squad with important match simulation, allowing players to build match fitness and continue to prepare tactically for the Club’s first competitive match on August 2.

Melbourne City members who have purchased a 2016/17 membership will receive free entry to the match against Port Melbourne Sharks. Members will receive an email with the entry details shortly.
