Club Statement: City Confirms COVID-19 Cases

Melbourne City FC can confirm that six A-League Men’s players have tested positive to COVID-19. All affected players are double-vaccinated and all report to be in good health.

We fully support Football Australia’s and the A-Leagues’ decision to postpone the FFA Cup match v Wellington Phoenix, which was scheduled to take place tonight, and the round six away match to Brisbane Roar, originally scheduled for Monday 27 December. Our next A-League Men’s match will be round seven away to Newcastle on Saturday 1 January, 2022.

The club has been carrying out daily Rapid Antigen Testing across all players and staff. As soon as we received the positive Rapid tests, the players were isolated and undertook PCR testing. All positive cases remain in isolation and are adhering to relevant state government health directives.

As a precaution, the remainder of the A-League Men’s core playing group and essential staff have taken PCR tests and are self-isolating for seven days to eliminate the possibility of any further infection.

We will continue to work closely with both the FA and the A-Leagues to find new dates for the postponed matches. If you’re not already, please follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to receive the most up to date Club information.
