Let the trip-of-a-life-time begin! City member Colin Reid is on his way to Manchester tonight as the winner of the Ultimate City Experience competition.
A City Blue member for the 2018/19 season, Colin will be at the Etihad Stadium to watch Premier League champions Manchester City play their first home match of the new season against Aaron Mooy’s Huddersfield town on August 19.
Colin, who will be joined by his wife Victoria on the trip-of-a-life-time, will spend four nights in Manchester and have also received the brand-new Nike Melbourne City Home and Third jerseys to wear around town.
We caught up with Colin before the big trip!
How excited are you to be travelling to Manchester?
I am really excited to be travelling to Manchester. It hasn’t really sunk in yet but once we land in the UK I’m sure it will!
What are you looking forward to the most about the trip?
Obviously, the main thing I’m looking forward to is the City game. I can’t wait to see some amazing players in the flesh and experience the atmosphere at a massive stadium. Plus, because they are playing Huddersfield I also get to see Aaron Mooy playing again. Hopefully I can meet him, get his shirt and convince him to come back to play for Melbourne City again.
There is also meant to be a good football museum in Manchester and it is also where the Classic Football Shirts online store has its factory – so I am hoping to enjoy a tour of the place.
It was an easy decision to bring your wife along, right?
Well, I normally watch City home matches at AAMI Park with three of my close mates and it would be way too hard to choose just one of them to come with me on this trip – so I took the safer option by bringing my wife!
How long have you been a Melbourne City member?
This will be my fourth season as a Melbourne City member. I’m originally from Scotland and moved to Melbourne five years ago and there was only one team for me.
What does being a Melbourne City member mean to you?
I really enjoy being a Melbourne City member. I love coming to the games and it is a great way to catch up with my mates and watch football. I have been really lucky to have seen some great players at AAMI Park in the last few years like Aaron Mooy, Harry Novillo, Bruno Fornaroli, Ross McCormack and Daniel Arzani. These are the kind of players that you want to see on a regular basis.
Why did you choose to be a City Opt-In member?
It’s the easiest way to pay for my membership and I don’t need to do anything – it’s perfect!
How excited are you for the 2018/19 season?
I am pretty excited for 2018/19 although it is still ages away. I’m looking forward to being at AAMI Park again for our FFA Cup match against Newcastle in a couple of weeks and cannot wait for the A-League to get underway.
