Colosimo Hails Aloisi’s Big Match Consistency

As John Aloisi’s glittering career approaches its final stanza, Melbourne Heart FC Captain Simon Colosimo has declared the Socceroo legend will be a key factor in the Club’s bid to reach the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.

As John Aloisi-s glittering career approaches its final stanza, Melbourne Heart FC Captain Simon Colosimo has declared the Socceroo legend will be a key factor in the Club-s bid to reach the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.

After a career spanning two decades, Aloisi will call time on his playing days at the end of the current Hyundai A-League season.

The former Serie A, La Liga and Premier League star will instead move into the coaching caper, where he will head up Melbourne Heart FC-s inaugural National Youth League team in 2011/12.

But despite the fact his on-field career is reaching its end, Aloisi has been a stellar contributor during the current campaign, scoring seven goals in 13 starting appearances to be Heart-s leading scorer.

And after scoring a brace in Heart-s barnstorming comeback 2-2 draw against Victory in the Melbourne Derby on Saturday night, Aloisi once again proved his worth as a big game performer, adding another chapter to a stellar and storied playing career.

Colosimo said Aloisi-s Derby performance was simply characteristic of the 55-time Socceroo.

“It’s typical of JA, talk about someone who scores important goals everywhere he goes,” he said.

“They were two of the most important goals this club will have, not only because it’s against Victory, but also where the club is at this point of the season.”

Heart-s upcoming home matches against the Central Coast Mariners on February 4 and Sydney FC on February 12 may prove to be ultimately the final time Melbourne football fans can witness the Australian sporting hero in action, making the games must-see events.
