COMMUNITY: Overnewton lift Premier Schools title

Overnewton Anglican Community College took out the Melbourne City FC Premier Schools Tournament on Tuesday.

Ten teams competed in the tournament which saw two groups of five battle it out to reach the finals stage, with the top two qualifying.

Overnewton defeated Ivanhoe Grammar in penalties after the two fought out a 0-0 draw in the Grand Final. Both sides finished top of their respective groups with Carey Grammar and Emmanuel College making up the minor placing.

The day saw the sides at Darebin International Sports Centre deal with strong winds and the ever-present threat of rain. The tournament was played in good spirits by all sides on the day with a great exhibition of talent and fair play.
