It’s just nine days until the Hyundai A-League season kicks off..
Dylan Macallister has been handed the number 9 jersey ahead of his first season with the Heart, and will look to find the net as regularly as Eli Babalj did last season, and certainly more often than Maycon, who wore the same jersey last season.
Macallister will form an integral part of a new look Heart forward line which also includes new boys Josip Tadic and Golgol Mebrahtu.
Adrian Madaschi made 9 appearances for the club in his guest stint with the Heart last season, when he proved a massive contributor to the club in his short time with the Red and White half of Melbourne.
Gerald Sibon was the first player to wear the number 9 for the Heart, and is fondly remembered by the fans for his contributions in that first season.
He scored a wonderful free kick at AAMI Park against the Victory, in a match the Heart eventually lost 3-1. Sibon made 27 appearances for the Heart, and scored seven times in his brief stay at the club.
Melbourne Heart won 9 games last season, on their way to a debut finals appearance, a total they will be hoping to increase this season.
