It’s another first for the E-League on Thursday night as the Melbourne Derby comes to the digital platform ahead of The Decider on Friday.
City picked up its first points of the season last week against Perth as a Marcus Gomes masterclass secured the 5-7 aggregate win.
Despite a spirited performance from Josh Wood, Gomes had it all to do in the second leg, behind by three goals at kick-off. The Rest of World number one flexed his FIFA 18 muscle, cutting the deficit at the break before motoring on in the second half.
The City duo have the chance to continue their climb up the E-League ladder on Thursday as they face Melbourne Victory in the first E-League Melbourne Derby.
Victory are one of three teams yet to pick up points in the competition and will be hungry for a kick-start.
Mouad Zwed and Mitch Austin are the pairing from the other side of Melbourne, however they will be down a man for the contest, with Austin ruled out of this week’s clash due to A-League training commitments. This means Zwed will play both legs on the XBOX and PS4 which gives City the upper hand.
Gomes will also be looking to continue his impressive FIFA form after qualifying for the second FUT Champions cup. After 160 games – 40 matches over four weekends – Gomes finished as 25th best Xbox player with 156 wins, sending him to the global stage. The top eight competitors in the competition will qualify for the FIFA eWorld Cup in August.
