The Etihad Player of the Month is back for January and Marcin Budzinski, Dario Vidosic and Daniel Arzani are up for this month’s award.
The Polish marquee has stepped up to the mark throughout January, finding a goal or assist in four of the month’s seven matches. Budzinksi headlined his January with a double against Adelaide and the midfielder has been consistent, working his way into Warren Joyce’s calculations. It has taken time for Budzinski but as it is with most foreign players to the A-League, he has warmed up to football in Australia and looks to be making a strong late run of form towards the finals series.
The attacker has taken no time to get used to life in a City shirt, moving straight into the starting side and onto the score sheet. Vidosic also found a brace during the 5-0 rout of Adelaide United which included a stunning goal of the year contender. The forward’s movement and clinical finishing has added another element to the final third and his ability to score with his head was on show against Newcastle – where he found the back of the net – and Brisbane, seeing his effort cleared off the line.
Another month, another break-out moment for one of City’s youngsters as Daniel Arzani amazed City and A-League fans alike. Three assists, a penalty won and a penalty scored summed up Arzani’s month in the basic numbers but the youngster offered so much more on the field. With only seven games under his belt this season, Arzani already leads his team in successful dribbles and take-ons and the starlet has caught the eye of many, particularly opposition defences.
