FFA Cup Watch: Power leave it late to salvage draw

Melbourne City’s Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 opponent Peninsula Power found the back of the net in the 93rd minute to pick up an important point in the Brisbane Premier League.

The Power faced Albany Creek for the second time in two weeks after playing ‘Excelsior’ in the Football Brisbane catch-up round last week.

Despite last week’s dominant win, it was Albany Creek who looked the better side, heading into the break with a goal advantage.

Things took a turn for Peninsula as David Salin received his marching orders after 64 minutes but it didn’t stop the power in their search for an avenue back into the match.

As time ticked, the visitors finally got their reward in the third minute of injury time as Richard Hurlin found the back of the net, securing a vital away point.

Peninsula slipped to third in the Brisbane Premier League as last season’s FFA Cup competitors Lions FC moved to second with three points against Holland Park Hawks.

Lions and the Power are chasing Rochedale Rovers in top spot who are five points away from Peninsula with four matches remaining.
