Melbourne City striker Bruno Fornaroli has been recognised for his outstanding performances in the Hyundai A-League, named as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) A-League Player of the Month for December.
Having scored four goals during December, where City recorded three wins, the Uruguyan has lit up the A-League in his debut season for the Club.
Having edged out teammate Aaron Mooy and Western Sydney Wanderers forward Mark Bridge to win the player voted award, Fornaroli said he was delighted to be named as the PFA Player of the Month.
“It’s a great to honour to win the player of the month award. I’m really happy with my time so far with Melbourne and it has been a positive start with the Club, but I hope it continues as there is plenty more work to do,” said the A-League’s leading goal scorer.
“Everyone at the club is working really hard each week and I would like to thank all my teammates who made this award possible and to all the players that voted for me.”
PFA President Matt McKay paid tribute to Fornaroli.
“Bruno’s performances have been outstanding throughout the season and he is truly deserving of the award,” said McKay.
“His goals speak for themselves but his overall quality and work rate have been equally impressive.
“With the A-League season having now passed the half-way mark I’m certain that Bruno will continue light up the competition and will have a big say in his team’s fortunes.”
