Learn more about Marcelo Carrusca as we take a lighter look at our new signing.
Marcelo Adrian Carrusca was born on September 1, 1983 in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. A fun fact, Buenos Aires translated means ‘fair winds’ and has the highest number of bookshops per person than any other city in the world.
There’s no denying the class Marcelo Carrusca has brought to the A-League and the Argentinian midfielder has proven time and time again that he has been one of the most talented players to grace the domestic scene.
Carrusca was selected twice in the A-League All-Stars side in 2013 and 2014, taking on Manchester United and Juventus. Carrusca even found the back of the net against the legendary Gianluigi Buffon when the Bianconeri defeated the All-Stars 3-2 in 2014.
With an FFA Cup and Championship under his belt during his time in Australia, Carrusca will look to add more South American flair and more importantly, experience to the City squad ahead of the 2017/18 season.
When you think of Buenos Aires, you think of Boca Juniors and River Plate but Estudiantes is another giant football factory in Argentina which Marcelo Carrusca learned his trade.
Born in La Plata, Carrusca joined his local team as a junior and came up through the ranks, making over 100 senior appearances for his side. There is no doubt Estudiantes brings back good memories for ‘Chelo’ and we’re just as sure there would be embarrassing ones like this as well…
