Melbourne Heart FC’s Foxtel National Youth League side will look to continue its 100 per cent record in Sunday’s youth derby against Melbourne Victory at Lakeside Stadium.

Melbourne Heart FC-s Foxtel National Youth League side will look to continue its 100 per cent record in Sunday’s youth derby against Melbourne Victory at Lakeside Stadium.

Joe Palatsides- side has come away with away wins from challenging away trips against Perth Glory (1-0) and a last-gasp win over Brisbane Roar (2-1) last weekend, which has given the side confidence ahead of Sunday’s showdown against the Victory.

“I think in both games, Perth in particular, we were very solid defensively,” Palatsides said.

“I think that has helped our play and I think the second game I think we started the game really well against Brisbane – the first half we dominated and could have scored two or three goals.

“In the second half admittedly we did weaken in the heat, but still had that fight and that grit to make sure we carved out that win.”

After a single Ersin Kaya goal gave Palatsides- side a 1-0 win in Perth, the side snatched a win with a 93rd minute goal from Marcus Schroen against the Roar.

Palatsides believes the two wins have given his side confidence ahead of Sunday’s challenge against the Victory.

“We-re looking forward to the match to see if we can continue that winning trend,” Palatsides said.

“I think whenever a team wins a couple of games in a row they grow in confidence and that breeds confidence as well so I think the whole team is looking forward to the game.

“I think they [the players] know that if they keep playing the way they are playing, it should be another good result.”

Victory drew 3-3 with Brisbane before defeating the AIS 4-1 last week, but Palatsides is more concerned with how his side prepares for the Round 3 clash.

“I haven-t seen much of them and we basically concentrate on what we-re doing so we-re not too concerned, but we know they are a good side,” Palatsides said.

“It-s exciting for the players because it-s a derby and they all want to play and it-s a good little atmosphere I think they-ll enjoy it a lot.

“Hopefully we-ll be able to keep up our momentum and it may result in another win so we-re looking forward to another good performance.

“It-s something to look forward to, it-s something to be excited about and hopefully we see a good game and we come out on top.”
