Melbourne Heart FC confirms that defender Dean Heffernan has been released from his contract by mutual consent with immediate effect.

Melbourne Heart FC confirms that defender Dean Heffernan has been released from his contract by mutual consent with immediate effect.

Heffernan featured in 13 matches during Heart-s inaugural season, including nine starting appearances after arriving at the Club from Huddersfield Town in the United Kingdom.

General Manager, Football Operations John Didulica thanked Heffernan for his contribution to the Club during its maiden campaign.

“Whilst Dean didn-t feature on the park as prominently as was initially anticipated, we thank him for his initial show of faith in Melbourne Heart FC,” Didulica said.

“At all times, Dean was the ultimate professional both in the way he trained and prepared himself for the possibility of a recall. We wish him all the very best in the future.”
