Growing up in Sydney, Ramsay left to trial in Scotland at 17 years of age, before scoring a youth contract with Scottish club Gretna FC. However, he found it difficult to break into Gretna’s senior team and decided to return home where he joined Sydney Olympic before being snapped up by Sydney FC’s Youth Team.
He made a cameo appearance for Sydney FC in the dying minutes of the 2009/10 Semi Final 1st Leg against Melbourne Victory before signing with Adelaide United. Capped off an impressive debut season by taking out Adelaide United’s Rising Star Award.
On 8 April 2013, Melbourne City announced Ramsay had signed with the club for the 2013/14 season.
