In the mix: Newcastle v City

We’re set for another huge week of team news as Melbourne City FC prepares to face Newcastle Jets away from home this Tuesday night.

Following a tough loss against Western United in Round 12, Patrick Kisnorbo’s side will be desperate to return to winning ways on Tuesday and will be significantly boosted by the potential returns of several starting XI regulars from national team duty and injury.

Starting with City’s most recent Socceroos representatives, Mathew Leckie, Jamie Maclaren, Connor Metcalfe and Marco Tilio will have all benefitted from the postponement of City’s original Sunday fixture against Perth Glory, and should all be fit for Tuesday’s Jets clash after returning from national team duties.

Additionally, City fans will hope to see the return of another of our recent Socceroos in Andrew Nabbout. Our star winger missed our last match after picking up a slight niggle in training, but is right back in contention for the starting XI this week.

City fans also may get their first glimpse at new signing Tsubasa Endoh, while Manuel Pucciarelli will be hoping to see some more minutes after appearing in the league for the first time last fixture.

As a result of the impending mass reinforcements to the matchday squad, several positions in the starting lineup could be up for grabs. Youngsters like Jordan Bos, Stefan Colakovski and Taras Gomulka will all hope they’ve proven themselves in their starting opportunities to continue seeing senior match minutes in the coming fixtures.
