Scans have confirmed that Melbourne City will be without American attacker Emina Ekic for the remainder of the A-League Women season.
Ekic was injured and subsequently left the pitch just minutes after scoring against Perth Glory at AAMI Park last week.
Scans revealed a fractured fibula, and after review by both our Club Doctor and a specialist ankle surgeon, Ekic is expected to be sidelined for the next 8-10 weeks.
The injury will be treated with a conservative approach, meaning she won’t be fit to play for City again before her loan ends and she returns to parent club, Racing Louisville FC.
We are currently working with the Racing medical team on her rehabilitation plan as she will now return to the US earlier than expected.
While she may have only spent a few months at the club, Ekic was a much-loved member of the squad and will be missed both on and off the pitch.
